Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People
Food For Thought 7:27Song Description:
A musical restatement to the age old question.
————————————————————————
Lyrics:
“Why do bad things happen to good people,” I am asked,
If God is love, and he forgives all sin that’s in our past?
Who controls the world that we inhabit?
Is it someone with a name we know?
Take a look in scripture, you will find it.
One called Satan rules this world below.
Ever since way back in the beginning
we’ve been given things from which to choose.
If we pick the path that leads to sinning
Lucifer’s influence helps us lose.
We may plan and pray, think we’re protected
from the sadness present in this life,
but this world remains the devil’s province,
and his actions guarantee our strife.
Why do bad things happen to good people, is there blame?
Why should some of us endure such hardship and such pain?
Biblically there’s no one who is sinless.
Thus, in turn, there’s no one who is good.
Bad things sometimes happen to “bad” people.
This occurrence happens as it should.
There are Ten Commandments to remind us
what is moral, what is right and wrong.
But our sinful nature tries to blind us,
keeps us from God’s side where we belong.
Most of us possess what’s called a conscience.
This may be the Holy Spirit, true?
Thus it seems within us we have guidance
analyzing what then we should do.
Why do bad things happen to good people, who can say?
Are there some solutions we can’t see, but will some day?
Jesus speaks to us through circumstances,
giving all of us some things to learn.
Recognize the risks and don’t take chances.
From the things that tempt us we should turn.
Tough times are a given with our progress
through this world, accept that as a fact.
We may benefit some from this pressure.
Set examples, use his grace. Don’t crack
God’s not guaranteed that we won’t suffer.
His ways we can’t fully understand.
People have a finite frame of reference,
so build your faith on rock, and not on sand.
“Why do bad things happen to good people”, I’ve been asked.
Is there one response to seal the question hard and fast?
There’s no single answer to this query.
Different reasons may, in fact, apply.
Our Creator’s plans have long-term purpose
not obvious to ones like you and I.
