How it Began

My name is Roland Burbank. As a contributor to the collection of mankind’s music, I began rather late in my time on Planet Earth. My first “real job” began after I graduated from the University of California School of Veterinary Medicine in the Class of 1981. I met my wife-to-be, Mindy, in vet school. Along with her identical twin sister, Missy, the three of us had been alphabetically-grouped and assigned as lab partners during our first two years of the four-year curriculum. Mindy and I eventually built and operated a busy veterinary hospital in Palm Springs, CA, from which we retired in the early 2010s.

Writing Lyrics

While recuperating from a surgery in 2014, I heard God’s voice telling me that my future should include writing song lyrics for him. Although I had briefly enjoyed composing some poetry and parodies in high school, my literary interests had taken a back seat to my focus on the biological sciences when I entered college. When God spoke to me, I was a newly-minted Christian, and I took my instruction seriously, considering music creation to be a worthy ministry during my retirement years.

Expression

One of my other passions has always been reading, and as my life as a Christian progressed, like so many others, I wanted to learn as much as possible about Jesus, and especially the field of Apologetics. As I became more convinced in my faith, I wanted to express my feelings about various Biblical topics through musical styles that would probably be considered eclectic, definitely not traditional.
