Principles Versus Partisans

5:17

Song Description:

A plea for those wielding power in contemporary society to follow moral principles

instead of letting partisan leanings control their actions, and thereby dilute the Christian

culture that has been a bedrock of our civilization.

Lyrics:

When someone is elected and is sent to represent

constituents in Congress, they should get those folks’ consent.

Before they push a button to vote upon a bill,

they should have polled their audience whose wishes they’d fulfill.

But equally important in helping make a choice

should be a strong commitment to a lawful inner voice.

Principles or partisans,
which are in control?
Should they stand up for what is right, or should they sell their soul?

They know that integrity
is built on honesty.
Though they say that they aspire to that it takes transparency.

This is something politicians promise for our votes.

But it seems they often lose it, and thus dash all of our hopes.

Principles or partisans,
which will take control?
Don’t lose your moral compass, or you’ll surely sell your soul.

What most were taught as children Why good parents then said “NO”, was to keep their kids off pathways where peer pressure said to go.

It’s easy to be tempted,
get diverted to one side,
and thus allow one’s thinking to be wrongly modified.

Consider why your actions
are taking you this way.
Have you reflected on your past to help improve today?

It’s easy to be partisan,
and principles be damned.
The ones you harm will not forget. They’ll know your act’s a sham.

You may admit you’re partisan, but please don’t throw away the principles that built our culture in the U.S.A.!

Just think, our nation’s future to our progeny’s bequeathed. We need them to be principled. Keep the partisan beneath.
