Forgiveness

Lyrics:

Discussions of forgiveness often come up for review.

It’s relevant and timely now with things we’re trying to do

Somehow it must be welcomed by all sides, just think it through,

because none of us are free of guilt, unfortunate but true.

There are lessons to learn from the Bible,

since its pages contain many facts.

We can verify that they’re important

when Scripture we read and unpack.

Take forgiveness, it won’t mean forgetting.

It does not imply no one was hurt.

An apology could start the process,

which will never occur without work.

No one said that forgiveness is easy,

but it benefits all when it’s done.

Just like God has forgiven our sinning,

it’s required for our souls to be won.

Disagreements are going to happen,

and some bridges will doubtless be burned.

But forgiveness won’t guarantee friendship.

There’s still trust that will have to be earned.

Don’t resolve that you’re going to get even.

Repay evil with acts that are good.

None of this will be simple to manage,

not while thinking you’re misunderstood.

The one that is being forgiven

may not see how they’re even involved.

Thus it doesn’t make sense to accuse them.

That is not how the problem is solved.

If forgiveness can have a beginning,

then someone must swallow their pride.

But the moment resentment comes creeping,

we’ve asked Satan along for the ride.

No one said that forgiveness is easy,

but it benefits all when it’s done.

Just like God has forgiven our sinning,

it’s required for our souls to be won.

It should rank right on up there with praying.

Fellow Christians we’re called on to act.

If there’s bitterness lodged in our memories,

from a loving heart this will detract.

God’s forgiveness provides us with heaven.

While on earth we must all do the same.

So forgive one another and be like a brother

who’s loving and not placing blame.

Loving and not placing blame, brother.

Be loving without placing blame.

Loving and not placing blame.

Be loving without placing blame.
