Fishing For Philistines
Food For Thought 5:16Song Description:
Contemporary philistines are intent on tearing apart civilized society with amoral
and immoral worldviews. As disciples of Jesus, Christians are tasked with being
“Fishers of men”, which includes the saving of our enemies’ souls. This dichotomy
was the inspiration for this composition.

Lyrics:
The philistines suspicious of our culture and our art
had precursors contemptuous of our Bible from the start.
Today they’re trolls who try controlling thought with threats and hate.
Vindictive words are all they have with hopes to satiate.
See how these philistines think they own the town
If they don’t agree with things they’ll try to shout you down.
They hide behind computer screens and tell us we’re uncool
And, without our permission ….., they infiltrate our schools.
They’ve lulled us all to sleep, they’re all politically correct.
their progress was insidious, too smooth to yet suspect.
Seems like these philistines don’t tolerate our views
They’d like to be the only voice that speaks out in the news.
Their goal is somewhat nebulous; they see that we’ve been slow
to recognize how far toward anarchy they hope to go.
They’ve lost the common thread of hope that Christians have within.
That followers of Jesus want to help them conquer sin.
See how these philistines will go to any length
to force their worldview on you, exhaust you with their strength.
But we have those with skills to match the ones we hope to quell.
The trick remains to prove to them the godless go to hell.
We must, posthaste, perfect the perfect plan, to put in place.
We must resolve to save these souls that hate the human race.
The worst are politicians who made some silly rules
If they’d recall the Philistines were made to look like fools.
As Christians we’re disciples, who heed our Savior’s wish,
Our ultimate success depends on just how well we fish.
See how these philistines think they own the town.
If they don’t agree with things they’ll try to shout you down.
Our ultimate success depends on just how well we fish…on just how well we fish.
