Dueling For Donuts

Song Description:

A chamber music lark, with a historically hysterical twist on a famous duel.

Lyrics:

Mouth-watering gelato, and chocolate that’s dark

entice me much more than a walk in New York’s Central Park.

When thoughts do come of rich desserts that widen many hips

a little spittle starts to form at corners of my lips.

Imagine, if you will, misunderstandings quite half-baked,

not over things like power….a thirst that’s never slaked.

But, WHOA, the lust for calories and saturated fat,

thought to be a death wish by some anorexics that

have hatred, too, for sugar, and thus anything that’s sweet.

But what about the other side; don’t tell me what to eat!!!

I scream “EN GARDE!”, and sluggishly go reaching for my saber.

I now confront a skinny vegan, though he is my neighbor.

We’ve had a disagreement once about ingesting meat.

He knows I think he’s PETA’s stooge, and yet he won’t retreat!

My loathing for such yucky foods as kale and (Gag!) tofu

Ignite my ire when these I’m served, and inwardly I stew.

I must defend my dietary choices every day.

I’m quite like Aaron Burr, who dreamed he had a better way.

Take that, you salad Hamilton! You think you own the truth!

Don’t force your thinking on me now; give back my Baby Ruth!!!

I know you’re just as weak as me, you scrawny little putz!

That whitish powder on your lips…let’s duel for those donuts!!!!

En Garde! I say, pick up your sword! Let’s duel for those donuts!!!
