Lyrics:
Everyday we’re watching
commercials on TV.
They show us things that tempt us;
and promote things we don’t need.
He wants that cool convertible,
She really craves that dress.
We’d love to take that cruise ship,
but our savings are a mess.
Drowning in self-pity,
When all those things we see
They’re way beyond our lifestyle.
Why can’t they be for free.
Ownership depends on
attainment by four ways.
Inheritance, or gift, or theft;
for most things we must pay.
Credit cards are evil;
they encourage us to charge.
We’re heading for disaster
if we’re livin’ way too large.
We’re all consumed with envy.
What else can we do?
Why can’t all life’s comforts be
the same for me and you?
We should feel the value
in things that we have earned.
Things acquired too easily
aren’t missed if they are burned.
When should we be happy?
When is enough enough?
Should we be workin’ harder to
accumulate more stuff?
Coveting is wrongful,
and maybe we’re not meant
to own unnecessary things,
so why should we lament.
Stop and think about it.
What really does God want?
We should count our blessings,
and be thankful, to be blunt.
It’s right there in the Bible.
our happiness assured.
If we’d accept some limits
these thoughts would all be cured.
Yes, Lord. If we’d just see
what you have intended.
Thanks for the reminder.
It’s all about contentment.
If we’d learn to love your ways
and live as you intended,
that would make you proud of us
when sin we have transcended.
By following your tenets Lord,
we’ll live as recommended.
Your true way to happiness
is all about contentment.
It’s all about contentment!
It’s all about contentment!
It’s all about contentment!
It’s all about contentment!
