Built To Last

6:18

Song Description:

Even though everything on earth has a limited life span,

if we give our life to Christ, our soul can live on eternally in Heaven,

being built to last .

Lyrics:

Obsolescence happens for most products that are sold.
No matter what the cost, unless perhaps they’re made of gold.
We’ve all seen this many times, it’s really no surprise.
Rusted metals crumble, disappear before our eyes.

Priorities were different in the days when we were young.
Our lifestyles varied quite a bit, when different songs were sung.
The Devil kept us busy; with our work we were consumed.

The years flew by, eventually mortality soon loomed.
Time is always passing; it’s the same for me and you.
That dimension can’t be stretched, unfortunate but true, unfortunate but true.

Consumables aren’t here for long, we know that they’ll wear out.
They have a life expectancy. They’ll fail without a doubt.
Though luckily, we shouldn’t fret. These goods we can replace.
But listen up, I want to speak of something we all must face.

There’s other things that also age; the hourglass will show.
The sand runs out, and painfully, our minds and bodies slow.
But somewhere tucked inside of us there’s something called a soul.
It has no weight that I’m aware, and time won’t take its toll.

God put it there when we were formed, and quite intentionally.
Some skeptics say there’s no such thing. They think conventionally.
A closer look would be worthwhile, for those so filled with scorn.
If they would take the time to learn life’s ending they’d not mourn.

Time is always passing; it’s the same for me and you.
That dimension can’t be stretched at all, unfortunate but true, unfortunate but true.

The faith in Christ each one must choose. It’s something God won’t  force,
and once it’s done you’ll know his grace can help you stay the course.
Eternity’s a long, long time. Our life on earth goes fast.
Let Jesus act to save your soul, and you’ll be built to last.

Let Jesus act to save your soul and you’ll be built to last.

Yes, let Jesus save your soul,
and then rejoice you’re built to last,
you’re built to last.
Built to last.
