LYRICS, MUSIC AND RECORDING
At the time I first felt God prodding me to represent him, I had already made my first effort at songwriting in the form of a long poem called Biblical Baseball. I took this to a guitar-instructor friend of mine, Ed Nilsen, to see if he thought it could be set to music. Ed, in turn, introduced me to John Andrew Schreiner, and the basis for a creative musical partnership fell into place.
COLLABORATION
Though I write all our lyrics, John writes and records all Burbank Schreiner music, utilizing an amazing group of highly-skilled studio musicians and vocalists (*see below). He has a long and impressive history of accomplishments in the music industry, including an Emmy, an ASCAP award, and seven Dove Awards www.johnandrewschreiner.com. I was blessed to have made that connection. Biblical Baseball, by the way, was set to a John Schreiner musical score, but has never been released.
THOUGHT-PROVOKING
As you will notice, not all of our songs would be considered to fall into the Christian genre. Writing for God has been my primary thrust, but he has allowed other thoughts to capture my attention periodically in such a fashion that I cannot resist putting those thoughts on paper, and having John set them to music.
Social commentary has also occupied me to some degree, as has the occasional foray into the political realm. I take full responsibility for the opinions expressed in Burbank Schreiner music. I am old-school enough to believe that our country is grounded in, and blessed with many freedoms, especially those of freedom of thought and of speech. Please accept that from me as I would for you.
